Puma “Ben” Stag Hunting Knife
REMAKE of 300 additional copies made with CPM S90V high-performance steel. The knives will be consecutively numbered.
Together with the MESSER MAGAZIN, PUMA held a design competition for a fixed hunting and outdoor knife. We specified the following criteria: it should be a full-tang construction; the blade length should not exceed eleven centimeters; the blade should have a drop point, spear point, or skinner shape; the knife should have brass or nickel silver bolsters/hand guards; the handle scales should be made of a natural material like deer horn or wood, alternatively, Micarta can be used; the sheath should be made of leather.
From numerous design proposals, a jury composed of the management and the editorial staff of the Messer Magazin made a preselection of twelve designs. These were presented to the readers in issue 03/2018. The readers chose the design by Olaf Zwätz as the winner. The winning design is called “PUMA ben” and has been implemented almost according to the designer’s specifications. PUMA’s team and Mr. Zwätz discussed the details and the best possible implementation from a production point of view. In the end, a hunting and outdoor knife with Sandvik 14C28N steel (first edition)/now CPM S90V steel and elegantly shaped nickel silver bolsters was created. The full-tang construction has a drop point blade with a flat grind, which is just under ten centimeters long. The handle scales are made of traditional deer horn, and the sheath is made of brown saddle leather.
The knife will be delivered in a black wooden box with a certificate.
