Puma Obstler Birch Wood Knife
All knife models in the PUMA IP (International Production) brand line are high-quality products created through the collaboration between PUMA Solingen and renowned partner manufactories in Spain. The cutting tools handcrafted for us there are mostly fitted with handle scales made from natural materials, such as staghorn and various woods (e.g., olive, ebony).
This compact pocketknife unites elegance and functionality in perfect balance. The belly-heavy, modified drop-point blade made of 1.4116 steel is ideally suited for a wide variety of cutting tasks in everyday life and leisure. It excels, for example, as a snack/picnic knife (Vespermesser) while hiking or camping. The handle is crafted from figured, light-colored birch wood and rests comfortably and securely in the hand. (Fun fact: the name “birch” traces back to an Indo-European root (*bherHg̑o), meaning roughly “shining” or “bright” in reference to the tree’s pale bark). The knife does not feature a mechanical lock; as a non-locking slip joint, it is fully compliant with German knife carry regulations (§ 42a WaffG).
Deliberately minimalist in design—free of a pocket clip and featuring only a small lanyard hole—this knife makes an impression with its sleek silhouette. For safe carry, it comes accompanied by a high-grade suede slip pouch that underscores the knife’s refined appeal.
Because we work with natural materials, variations in color and grain structure may occur—each knife is unique.
